A face lift (Rhytidectomy) is usually considered by men and women age 40 and over and can improve sagging facial skin by removing excess fat, tightening muscles and redraping skin. The duration of results is usually 5 to 10 years.

A face lift is an outpatient surgery with preparations and procedure encompassing several hours only, but some of our patients may need a short inpatient stay. Anesthesia is often a local with sedation, or in some cases general anesthesia may be recommended. Temporary bruising, swelling, numbness and tenderness of skin should be expected. Additionally you may experience a tight feeling simulating very dry skin.

Our patients are usually back to work in 10 to 14 days. (Bruising usually varies from 2 to 3 weeks.) More strenuous activity is not recommended for at least two weeks or more. Exposure to the sun must be limited for several months.
